Mini-offices

I use the mini-offices during
writing time. It gives the children some resources at their
fingertips to help them find sight words, sound out words, form
letters, and think of writing topics.
Though the mini-offices are already put
together in full when the children arrive in August (except for the
student names and photos list), I introduce how to use the office a
section at a time. It is too much to expect them to use every single
part correctly without having it modeled for them. The first section
I introduce is how to use the name section that has each child's
name and photo. Next, I introduce the "I can write about ..."
section. Then I introduce the alphabet/sound chart, and so on.

The open space on the left
yellow panel is for a class list once I get my children's names.

* You can get the alphabet chart that I use
here at Carl's Corner. The letter formation box with
"Manuscript" at the top is actually a sticker that I got at the
Dollar Tree a couple of summers ago. I believe they came in a book
of 15 or 20.
* To make the mini-office word wall, I just made a
table in Microsoft Word with the appropriate number of columns and
added the letter headings and words.
